dc.descriptionThe Project ‘Strategies for trawl fisheries bycatch management (REBYC-II CTI)’ is contributing to the sustainable use of fisheries resources and healthier marine ecosystems in the Coral Triangle and Southeast Asia waters by reducing bycatch, discards and fishing impacts by trawl fisheries. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the Global Environment Facility (GEF) agency for the project that is funded jointly by GEF and the implementing partners. The Project, which began work in April 2012, is being executed by FAO with the implementation partners; the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the governments of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, in partnership with the private sector and relevant national, regional and international organizations.The Project Steering Committee (PSC) is made up of representatives from the following organizations: • Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Indonesia; • National Fisheries Authority, PNG; • Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Philippines; • Department of Fisheries, Thailand; • Fisheries Administration, Vietnam; • SEAFDEC; and • FAO During the course of the Project the Project Steering Committee (PSC) has met three times: Bangkok (13 May 2013), Ho Chi Minh City (29 May 2014) and Calbayog City, Philippines (18-19 May 2015). For the successful conclusion of the REBYC-II CTI project, the PSC met for a fourth and last time on 8 June 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand, to discuss overall progress on the project and to decide upon any final regional or national activities planned for the remaining months of the Project.en
