dc.descriptionThe National Inception Workshop for implementation of the project year 1 in Vietnam was held in Ho Chi Minh City on 20 June 2013. It was attended by local representatives of some of provincial Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sub‐Departments of Capture Fisheries and Resource Protection from coastal provinces where trawl fisheries developing, researchers from Research Institute of Marine Fisheries, representatives of Departments under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), and D‐FISH’s officials. The Workshop was organized by Department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection (DECAFIREP) of Directorate of Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Department (MARD) of Vietnam with financial support by FAO throughout the REBYC‐II CIT project. There were total 24 participants from local and central fisheries management authorities attending the workshop. The main objectives of the Workshop were to introduce importance, purpose and activities of the project in the first year to relevant agencies, stakeholders at the national and local levels for better cooperation in the implementation. The Workshop also aims to integrate the trawl fisheries data/information of the Southwestern provinces in order to support the development of management needs evaluation on trawl fisheries in Vietnam as well as in provinces.en
