<summary type="text">Identification Guide to Scombrid Fishes and Larvae of Southeast Asia
Konishi, Yoshinobu; Chayakul, Rangsan; Punsri, Rakkiet; Changphetphol, Nathacha
Despite the economic importance of pelagic fisheries like Engraulidae and Scombridae in Southeast Asia, overfishing and advanced gear have led to significant population declines, necessitating urgent conservation measures such as seasonal fishing bans and ichthyoplankton surveys. However, effective stock management is currently hindered by a regional shortage of experts and the lack of a specialized identification guide for local fish larvae. To address these gaps, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) has initiated training workshops and developed a dedicated larval fish identification book to standardize research, reduce reliance on non-regional reference materials, and ultimately ensure the sustainability of marine capture fisheries.

<summary type="text">Cruise report on research activity M.V. PLALUNG cruise no. 5-1/2023
This cruise survey was conducted for the trawl monitor system (SCANMAR) sea trial and experiments on the comparative efficiency and impact of Vee type and Rectangular otter board for trawl fishing operations. To compare the catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) and efficiency between both otter boards, the recorded data included as following:&#13;
- Fishes species sampling: bottom otter board trawl &#13;
- Water quality: CTD&#13;
- Net opening and Net spread: SCANMAR&#13;
- The depth of otter board: SENSUS depth recorder&#13;
- Otter board underwater observation: GoPro camera&#13;
The cruise survey was scheduled from 3 to 9 April 2023. Respecting cruise order M.V. PLALUNG Cruise No. 5-1/2023, seventeen (17) operations for bottom trawl for fisheries resources and benthic marine debris and ten (10) CTD portable were conducted.

The manual is to introduce the pelagic longline fishing method to fishermen through government officers in the SEAFDEC member countries, as well as to assist currently involved to improve their fishing success, particularly in commercial or semi-commercial situations. The manual is intended to act as a guide to the principles and techniques of good pelagic longline fishing, particularly in tuna longline fishing, for use by fishermen who wat to start, refine of broaden their skills.
