Report of the First Meeting of Thailand’s National Scientific and Technical Committee

The First Meeting of Thailand’s National Scientific and Technical Committee was conducted by Department of Fisheries, Thailand, at Bangkok on 17 December 2018. The meeting aimed to report the progress of works and collective existing information including: 1.) Notification of the Department of Fisheries No. 1130/2561 Re: Appointment of Thailand’s National Scientific and Technical Committee dated 27th November 2018, 2.) Overview of background of the project: Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, 3.) Progress of project implementation, 4.) Technical information of fisheries, fisheries resources, and ecosystem in Trat and Surat Thani Provinces, and 5) considering of Project Site and Priority Fisheries Species in Trat and Surat Thani Provinces Province. In conclusion, the committee support the proposed Indo-Pacific mackerel and Blue swimming crab as priorities species in Trat and Surat Thani Provinces, respectively
