Report of the Fifth Meeting of Thailand National Fisheries Refugia Committee

The Fifth Meeting of Thailand National Fisheries Refugia Committee was conducted by Department of Fisheries, Thailand, at Bangkok, on 20 June 2019. The meeting attended by 13 participants, including board committee and observers. The meeting aimed to acknowledge on 1.) Results of the First Meeting of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Trat Province on 4thApril 2019 at Trat City Hotel, Trat Province, 2.) Results of the First Meeting of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani Province on 26th March 2019 at Wang Tai Hotel, Surat Thani Province, and 3.) Results of the 2nd Meeting of the Regional Scientific and Technical Committee on 21st –23rd May 2019 at Kampot, Cambodia. National Fisheries Refugia Committee of Thailand also approved of Quarterly Progress Report, Expenditure Report, Costed Work Plan and Cash Advance Request. The results indicate that the area around Koh Sed was suitable for Fisheries Project site of the blue swimming crab in Surat Thani Province due to the its richness of coastal ecosystems suitable for habitat and nursery ground in the area. For Indo-pacific mackerel, based on the survey in Koh Kong, Cambodia, the mature ones were abundance during January – March.
