dc.description.abstractThe Training Department has conducted regional training programs for fishery extension officer since 1981, with assistance from the Royal Netherlands Government under the SIR/DSO Program. Eighth training courses, with a total of 188 participant from ten countries in the South and Southeast Asia regions, were organized by the Department between 1981 and 1987. Under its program for 1988, the training Department organized the Ninth Regional Training Couse for Fishery Extension Officers from 17 October to 30 November 1988. The emphasis of this courses was placed on socio-economics of small-scale fisheries, which is of great importance to the countries in the South and Southeast Asian regions.en
