dc.description.abstractThe SEAFDEC Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Kenji Matsumoto elaborated on the background and objectives of the Workshop especially the need to come up with the priority HRD programs for sustainable fisheries in the region. He also provided a background of the Japanese Trust Fund (JTF) Project in SEAFDEC including the various training activities funded through the JTF. He explained the coverage of the proposed program on Human Resource Development for Sustainable Fisheries by the SEAFDEC Training Department which mainly aims to fill the human resource gap in the promotion of sustainable fisheries and development of counter-measures to combat IUU fishing in the region.
