dc.description.abstractThe Special Meeting on Sharks Information Collection in Southeast Asia was convened in Bangkok, Thailand, from 15 to 17 September 2011 to update the information on shark in the region. Compilation of meaningful regional information on shark production, utilization and management has been known as essential to the national fishery management planning, and to improvement of the national shark statistics. The Meeting was attended by authorities and shark experts from Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippine, Thailand, and Vietnam. The experts from Thailand’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) as well as SEAFDEC personnel from the Secretariat, Marine Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (MFRDMD), Training Department (TD), and members of the Regional Fisheries Policy Network.
