Report of the First Meeting of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani

Abstract

First Meeting of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani was conducted by Department of Fisheries on 26 April 2019. The meeting attended by 33 participants, including board committee, experts, and observers and fishers The meeting acknowledged on 1.) Notification of Surat Thani Province No. 2079/2562 Re: Appointment of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani Province dated 20th March B.E. 2562 (2019), 2.) Overview of the Project: Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, 3.) Status of Ecosystem and Fisheries in Surat Thani Province, 4.) Blue Swimming Crab and Ecosystem Related to the Integrated Management of Blue Swimming Crab Resources in Ban Don Bay of Surat Thani Province, and 5.) Blue Swimming Crab Management in Thai Waters. National Fisheries Refugia Committee of Thailand consider on an approach to Fisheries Refugia Management for Blue Swimming Crab in Surat Thani Province.
