Report on-grid solar roof system at TD
Application and utilization of solar power for the SEAFDEC training department is a major challenge on knowledge and experience on various technologies and materials. Yet, it is an excellent opportunity for SEAFDEC engineers to enhance their knowledge and experience in the utilization and maintenance skills of solar energy systems. Before applying this technology on the fishing vessels, a pilot and demonstration activity will be initiated at the TD’s facility. It is expected that the meeting room and/or research and training vessel will be designated as a pilot for applying this solar energy system. A solar system with a grid connected to powering the building with renewable energy during office hours when sunlight hits on the solar surfaces. The electricity produced by the solar panels is converted to AC power to the power distributing system of the designated building's electrical equipment to utilize solar energy. In many cases, an optimal solution will be installed simultaneously both the solar system and an emergency generator called ‘diesel-solar hybrid systems’ to supply electric power. In addition, the utilization of solar power at the office of TD will enhance the organization's image as an environmentally friendly office. It would also enable awareness and education to SEAFDEC staff, guests, and people around the TD office.
