Fisheries Management Policy in Malaysia: Issues on Responsible Fishing

The legal and institutional policies on the management of the marine fisheries industry in Malaysia are presented in the paper. Specifically, management issues and problems that affect the industry, such as, overfishing, pollution, habitat destruction, destructive fishing methods, marine parks, environmental awareness, research data, research and monitoring, and biodiversity were also presented. Moreover, the roles of each government agency in the management of the industry were also presented. In addition, the management measure for fisheries activity and specific policies and guidelines for fisheries were discussed thoroughly.
